WELCOME DR. SUSAN LANG
The Wyoming Board of Education is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Susan K. Lang as Superintendent of Schools effective October 3, 2011. She has received a three-year contract.
Dr. Lang comes to Wyoming from Rossford Exempted Village Schools, a district in northwestern Ohio of approximately 2,000 students who reside in the cities of Rossford, Northwood, and Perrysburg and Lake Townships. She has served as Superintendent there for four years. She replaces Dr. Gail Kist-Kline who recently resigned after six years to become Superintendent of Mason City Schools.
She holds a Bachelors degree from Bowling Green State University, a Masters from Kent State, and a Doctorate from Miami University. While serving as Executive Director of the Ohio Center for Essential School Reform from 2004-07, she authored, and subsequently, published a book on formative assessment for the classroom. Dr. Lang has also recently taught graduate level educational leadership classes as an Associate Professor at Bowling Green University and has held a position on the Student Affairs Board for BGSU.
Dr. Lang has earned the Governor’s Award for Educational Leadership, was recognized by the Buckeye Association for Leadership in Education, was selected to Who’s Who in Education and was one of ten superintendents in Ohio who participated in the China Exchange Program last April.
“We are pleased to welcome Dr. Lang as our new superintendent. Guided by the data from several forums and surveys of the staff and community, we were fortunate to find a candidate with an exciting combination of skills and experiences to help lead our district forward. She will be leader of leaders in guiding and supporting our outstanding administrative and instructional teams. Please join the Board in welcoming and supporting the newest member of the Wyoming School family,” stated Sheryl Felner, Board President.
